October 10, 2020 - See You Up at the House, Later...

…and I will dwell in the house of the Lord, forever. Psalm 13:6b

Say there Christian, long time church member, follower of God, ever wonder why there are so many songs about “Home” or “Going Home” or Heaven or death and dying? Well, me neither – I guess I never thought about it. There are hundreds if not thousands relating to the issue – of that day… What will it be like for me; what will happen back here on earth? How long between that day and when the Lord returns to earth and we’re all finally reunited, and so on and son on…

Usually, they’re all about hope, assurance, eternal security, reward, and this list of reasons goes on and on as well. But, wait, some songs are about - even judgement – whoa! By the way, I’m not talking about just “church songs” or hymns. Many musicians and singers and even songwriters not usually associated with a Christian life have written or recorded songs about it.

But, why?

For believers and non-believers, Christians and non-Christians alike, it’s the ultimate unknown. I don’t care how many television shows, movies, books or even, songs are written or portrayed, ultimately, apart from the Book of the Revelation, we just won’t know what it’s like until we get there. Sounds completely un-encouraging, right? Not at all! Like David, we, as authentic followers of Christ can live each day with total assurance of what will be next. The Bible is clear about the after human life for the Believer.

But, that’s the key – Believer – one must, if one believes the Bible, accept Christ as Savior and Lord. The book of John, chapter three, verses one to twenty-one, are clear. Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again. (Just a snippet – John 3:3) look also at this from The Book of John: John 14:6 - Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

If you cannot remember a time in your life when you spoke to God and asked Him to take total control of your life and told Him that you were, from that point forward, going to count on Him for your eternal (After death) security and your total guidance while still living (Here on earth), then you may very well not be saved. You may not be heading to heaven when you pass away from this life. The good news? If you’re reading this right now, it’s not too late. You can, right this second, speak to God and express these desires to Him – and He will do what He promised to do. John 3:18 For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son so that whosoever calls upon Him – will be saved!

When David wrote that he would dwell in the house of the Lord forever, it was because he had given his life to God – so much so, that the Bible remembers David as being a man after God’s own heart!

What do you say about your “forever”? What do you know about it? None of us have any hope of that House of the Lord apart from having Christ as savior and Lord.

Today is the day – it’s not too late. I’m hoping to visit with you at the house – when we all finally get... Home

- Today, talk to God about what you know you need to talk to Him about…
