“Deliver me from the guilt of bloodshed, O God, The God of my Salvation, and my tongue shall sing aloud of Your righteousness.”

David asked the LORD to deliver him from the “guilt” from what he had done. Over the years I have talked with many many dear dear saints who still carry around the guilt of their past sins. It has wreaked havoc on their lives and kept them from fully following the LORD. They know the LORD has forgiven them, but they can’t seem to forgive themselves.

David did not want to be bound by the guilt and shame from his sins. He wanted to be delivered from the bondage that guilt brings. He knew that only the LORD could deliver him.

Beloved, the soul that has been delivered from sin, and born into the glorious Kingdom of God is one filled with joy. Notice that David said that “my tongue shall sing aloud.” David wanted to publicly sing praises to the LORD.

True worship comes from the heart. It is a result of experiencing the life changing love of the LORD that brought us forgiveness. His wonderful mercy and grace that saved our soul merits our praise. When we sing together as the body of Christ it is our hearts praising the Living Loving God.

Beloved, ask God to deliver you from all the guilt and shame of past sins. Allow His grace to fill your heart with praise. Then lift your voice in worship and sing to the LORD.
