He leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul…
Psalm 23:2b-3a

re·store verb: bring back (a previous right, practice, custom, or situation); return (someone or something) to a former condition, place, or position. Repair or renovate (a building, work of art, vehicle, etc.) so as to return it to its original condition. Give back (something previously stolen, taken away, or lost) to the original owner or recipient.
You remember from school – a verb is an action word. Meaning that is continuously happening! So, it’s easy to conclude and rightfully to do so as well, that David is saying that The Good Shepherd is always restoring our soul.
Remember yesterday that we agreed that The Shepherd sometimes makes us lie down or we might keep going and going and going - to the detriment of our health but, he continued on to say that the waters we’re being led alongside of, are still. They are calm. Even many years later Paul observed to the church in 1 Corinthians 14:33, that God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints. God doesn’t change! If David and Paul could observe this personality trait of The Lord, we can still, too, today. We can know that what we see in the news is not of God!
It’s not easy though, is it? We want to wring our hands and pace the floor and worry about all that’s being done or said when we’re supposed to be trusting that God is in control. As of this writing, its being reported that the President and Mrs. President have tested positive for the virus. Well, the God of the universe wasn’t surprised and I assure you He’s not worried about what that means.
Listen believer, the world will always be in a certain level of human chaos – always! It’s what we do best as humans… but, we as followers of Christ are being led beside still waters. We’re having our very souls restored along the way as well!
God, in fact, is God and He is a Good Shepherd – remember? We can be cautious and careful and thoughtful as we live our lives but we must not allow ourselves to be anxious and in constant inner turmoil about the world around us – that’s not of God. That’s not His leading. That’s the adversary.
- Pray for the President and his wife – for quick healing and quick recovery and minimal effects of the COVID-19 diagnosis.
- Thank God that the other candidate tested negative – no one deserves this plague – not even one who might be considered an enemy.
- Ask God to calm and eliminate the fears that grip you today.
- Pray that The Lord would renew your faith – in Him.
- Pray that God would bring back, repair or renovate, and give back all that Satan stole or is attempting to steal from you.
