“But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come.” 2 Timothy 3:1

In the late Nineteenth Century and early Twentieth Century, there was a theological movement going around teaching that the world was getting better and better. These people believed that the world would one day be such a wonderful place to live that Jesus would return and choose to rule from earth rather than heaven. After World War One, most people abandoned this false idea.

No one likes to receive bad news. Most people don’t enjoy sharing bad news with others, but it is often necessary. The Apostle Paul shares with a younger Timothy the truth about the future. He does so in an attempt to warn him of the coming difficult times. He was sharing this lesson with a leader who could then proclaim to others this truth. In knowing the “truth” we can be better prepared to deal with it.

Beloved, it is clear from Scripture, that the world will become increasing worse. The last days will be a turning away from God in every aspect of life. We can see that happening every day. This current pandemic has shown that there are a large number of “political leaders” who have little regard for religious freedoms in this country. They see no benefit to local churches. Many of these “political leaders” are trying their best to close churches and abolish the voice of Christ in this world.

Beloved, don’t panic. The Lord is still enthroned in heaven. He was not caught off guard. He is ABLE!!
