Monday - April 27, 2020 - Be Careful About Who You Listen To

April 27, 2020

If anyone teaches other doctrine and does not agree with the sound teaching of our Lord Jesus Christ and with the teaching that promotes godliness, he is conceited, understanding nothing, but has a sick interest in disputes and arguments over words.” I Timothy 6:3-4

“Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.” I John 4:1

We are being warned here about those individuals that have no regard for what Scripture says and yet they teach and preach as if they know exactly what God wants taught.

Some people want to teach a Gospel of health, wealth and prosperity and that’s not what God’s Word teaches us. There will be some in this world who are wealthy and more prosperous than others just read about the parable of the talents. Matthew 25:14-30. There are some people that are healthy all their lives but we know that Jesus healed the sick and the lame. So we know God desires to heal but there is a time appointed for every man and woman to die. It’s all according to God’s Will in our lives. Some people honor God in their sickness than if they were healed. We use everything that God brings into our lives for His glory, even sickness.

There are even some preachers who will tell you can do whatever you want because it doesn’t matter now that you’ve accepted Jesus Christ as your Savior. That is NOT true. Our lives should be a living testimony of how God can change a person after salvation into a trophy of God’s grace. The transformation process has allowed many people to see with their eyes the power of God on a person’s life, and it’s caused others to trust in Jesus Christ as their Savior too.

We must beware of whom we let influence us in our lives. Just because they taught the Gospel at first, always, always test the spirits to see if what they are saying right now is the truth or not. Some teachers and preachers start off well but they drift from the truth and end up teaching things that don’t line up with scripture. A little dab of untruth spoils the teaching and preaching, so beware.
