We’ve heard this verse misquoted and miss used so often. The love of money is not evil in its self it’s the love that causes something more complex and deep down that happens that becomes evil in its nature. It’s nice to have money and to enjoy the things it affords but when we turn our desires to gaining more and more no matter the cost or who it destroys in its path IS the evil spoken of here.
When lust and greed take root in our lives and causes us to be so narrow minded that all we thing about it the gain it bring us, then evil has been born in our hearts and lives. Satan gives us many temptations to follow after the money for our selfish desires and uses. Money in and of itself should be for our good and God’s glory.
Many people have money and don’t “love” it… but when their love for money becomes a reality, there is evil and it usually draws men’s attention away from God and godly things in this life. They lose their faith and often walk away from their faith. They become dependent and confident in their money that they no longer depend on God for anything. The world now owns their heart and desires and it leaves no room for God or faith in God in their lives.
Their money makes them worldly and materialistic. They run after the things in this world and try to fulfill their happiness in things. Sadly, nothing can replace true happiness because it’s only found in Jesus Christ as Lord of our lives. Be careful about your thoughts and attitudes towards money and keep your eyes on Jesus Christ.
