November 12, 2020 - A Song of Praise Changes Everything

“ I will give thanks to the Lord according to His righteousness and will sing praise to the name of the Lord Most High.” Psalm 17:7

David is being plotted against and pursued by King Saul wanting to take his life. And in the midst of it all, David prayed. These are the words of this prayer.

His prayer of thanksgiving changes his focus and attention away from his situation and turns it to God. How big and almighty God really is in his life. The song of praise changes not only his outlook on things but it softens and speaks peace to his very being. When we change our focus and do positive things to reinforce the truth of God in our lives it simply works. One scripture comes to mind: “Therefore if you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth.” Keeping our eyes focused on our situations brings about the glum and misery in our lives. Trusting in an Almighty God and what is ahead for each of us as a Christian keeps our joy and worship intact.

How much of a difference could we make with a joyful and positive attitude daily? We could bring a little of Heaven down here to Earth in our daily lives and the lives of those around us.

At those moments of frustration, helplessness and trouble start to sing a song of praise and see if God won’t open the windows of Heaven and pour out His blessings on you.
