September 25, 2020 - Look for God Working in Your Midst

“Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.

But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son,

but only the Father." Mark 13:31-32

Has there ever been a passage of scripture that you’re not quite sure what it means and you have to do some research on and study to try to understand what is being said in that passage? These verses can be some of those passages. They are not easily understood. If you’re normal, you want to know everything there is to know about something and how it all fits together. Especially in these last few months of 2020, we’ve all tried to understand just what’s going on and what it’s going to mean to all of us in the long run. The future is a mystery and even though we have some clues from God’s Word about what will happen in the future, nothing is spelled out completely. Therefore, we must trust God’s lessons that He’s taught through scripture and through the life and testimony of Jesus Christ.

We are encouraged as followers of Jesus Christ to change from our natural reactions, responses and typical behaviors to those that look like what Jesus would do in every situation that we encounter. Jesus walked with His Father and talked with Him every day of His earthly life. Jesus’ faith and trust in His Father is the example that we should imitate too. This passage tells us to remember those lessons that Jesus taught us by living out his life and giving us an example to follow. His word is not just the teachings that He taught on this earth but it’s the principles and convictions about our lives that are written in scripture. We are to completely trust God in such a way that we stand strong and live our lives in such a way that it imitates Jesus life completely. We should look and act like Jesus 100 percent.

We will never know exactly when Jesus will return again for us on this earth or whether or not we’ll be alive but we must live each day with our eyes looking for Him and our hearts ready for His return. It’s almost like having a loved one that leaves for a long period of time and we know they are going to return, we just don’t know exactly when they will come back. Jesus left and told His disciples that He would come for us in the future. We’ve been waiting for many years but the signs are pointing toward the time when we will see Him again. He left us with things that will occur just prior to His return. Are you planning on Jesus return? Have you ever thought about what it would be like to really see Him in person? Jesus return is closer than it’s ever been before. I’m excited to know that it could really happen in my lifetime. I try to never forget that it could happen TODAY!! I’m trying to do my best to share the gospel with those I come in contact with so that they will have a chance to accept Jesus as their personal Savior too.

- Pray for God to keep you focused on being a godly example to others

- Pray for those who are struggling with life mentally and emotionally.

- Pray for those who are lonely and discouraged during this time
