“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith;” II Timothy 4:7

We are often told not to fight but there are times and circumstances that call for our “fight” to come out of us. We are to be true to our faith and beliefs and carry on in the midst of trial, turmoil, persecution, heartache and troubles. It’s difficult to carry on as an individual but we must. I firmly believe that these situations are the reason Jesus sent His disciples out two by two. At times we all need someone in our corner. These words from Ecclesiastes 4: 9-12 give us encouragement: “Two are better than one, Because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, one will lift up his companion. But woe to him who is alone when he falls, for he has no one to help him up. Again, if two lie down together, they will keep warm; But how can one be warm alone? Though one may be overpowered by another, two can withstand him. And a threefold cord is not quickly broken”

In this verse, Paul states to Timothy that he has been true and not left the faith. He has remained faithful to God in all things and he’s encouraging Timothy to do the same with his life. God has a crown of Righteousness for every believer that remains faithful to the Gospel in his lifetime. That crown was bought and paid for by Jesus Christ.

Paul tells Timothy that he has done everything that God had called him to do. He’s endured the hardships of life and he’s still trusted in God. God has been faithful to Paul all throughout his life and his trust has not wavered.

Can you say that you’ve remained faithful and true in everything that you’re doing in life? Have you completed everything that God has planned for you to do?

I believe that God has a purpose for all of us to accomplish during the days He gives to us to live. If we’re still alive, I would think that God is not finished with us and we need to be faithful and do whatever it is He has for us to do. We always look for those things to be big but some of the most meaningful things could be a simple encouragement to someone, a note, a phone call or a visit.

Thank you for being faithful!
